About ASI e-Course

The ASI e-Course Overview

The course is designed to teach participants the purpose and intent of ASI items, recommended probes, supplemental questions, coding conventions, and Interviewer Severity Rating (ISR) procedures. In addition, it places significant emphasis on the clinical relevance of the information collected using the ASI, and how that information informs a diagnosis or diagnostic impression using the DSM-5, as well as level of care recommendations utilizing the ASAM Criteria, 3rd Edition. This clinical focus is what distinguishes the curriculum from others and has contributed to the popularity of both ASI onsite workshops and the ASI e-Course among counselors and clinicians.

The ASI e-Course is more comprehensive than traditional one- or two-day onsite workshops. It provides users with greater depth of content, more opportunities for practice and feedback, and additional support materials than are typically available during in-person sessions.

The ASI e-Course is highly effective in achieving its intended learning outcomes, including the transfer and maintenance of newly acquired knowledge and skills in the workplace. On average, participants begin with a pre-course assessment score of 46/100, increase to an average of 85/100 after course completion, and reach 91/100 on follow-up assessments.

This e-Course is standardized, evidence-based, easily accessible, cost-effective, and designed to maximize learning and facilitate the application of knowledge in professional settings. Its design and functionality allow learners to create a self-directed, self-paced experience tailored to their individual learning styles and professional needs—an approach that traditional onsite workshops cannot match.

The course integrates evidence-based adult learning principles, strategies, and interventions shown to enhance knowledge retention and support workplace transfer.

Subscriptions are available for a period of three months; however, participants are expected to complete the course within the first 30 days. The remaining time allows for continued access to reinforce learning and support its application in the workplace.
